Curated by Francis McWhannell as part of the 2021 Auckland Pride Festival
Opening: Wednesday 10 February, 6:00–8:00pm
Talk with Johns: Saturday 13 February, 11:30am
Ōtautahi-based Paul Johns is one of Aotearoa’s foremost artists. He has long explored gender and sexuality in his work—sometimes directly, sometimes more discreetly. BEEN HERE LONG?, his first solo exhibition in Tāmaki Makaurau for many years, brings together a selection of light-based works, paintings, and photographs produced between the late 1970s and the present day. Diverse in form and temperament, they nevertheless show a recurrent interest in questions of intimacy and belonging.
